Description ~ The Sea Lettuce Scarf

The Sea Lettuce Scarf design may be worked in any weight of yarn and makes a perfect cruise project. It is seamless and has a maximum of 32stitches, thus it may be worked on two dpns or a short circular needle. Students will learn the techniques required to complete this project in class and Lucy will assist, as students work on their projects throughout the cruise.

Materials Needed ~ The Sea Lettuce Scarf

This is an ideal stash reduction project using yarn anywhere from fingering (100 g) to chunky weight (150g). In the event of not having enough of any one yarn, Lucy has a handy method to transition with from one color to another as you work.

  • Yarn - Lucy suggests that you work a practice swatch in class and bring a couple of favorite skeins with you, alternatively you will have a project for which to shop as you travel. For your practice swatch use a light colored, medium weight yarn. For your project allow 100 - 150 g of fingering - chunky weight in a hand-paint, ombre, hand-spun or space-dyed yarn.
  • Bring two dpns or a 60 cm / 24" circular in a size to suit both your practice and project yarns, plus 2m/yds of a contrasting similar weight yarn.
  • Scissors.
  • Crochet hook.
  • Blunt darning needles.
  • Usual knitting paraphernalia.
